Autumn is a great time of year and there are many reasons why people love it. Here are our top five reasons that people love autumn in the U.K..
1. Nature During Autumn, the leaves on the trees turn golden brown and start to fall to the ground. Children love to walk through the forest in their wellington boots and jump in the piles of leaves, making them crunch.
2. Fashion Autumn is the time to put away your shorts and t-shirts and get out your jumpers and boots. Getting wrapped up in big fluffy jumpers is what lots of people love about this time of year.
3. Food and drink During the autumn, people in the U.K. eat less cold meals, like salads, and start to make warm 'comfort' foods like stews. After being out in the cold, a cup of hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows is also a favourite treat!
During the Autumn, the U.K. celebrates Halloween, where children trick or treat for sweets and dress as ghouls and goblins. There is also Bonfire night, where people have large firework displays.
5. The countdown to Christmas begins People in the U.K. love the run-up to Christmas, and during the autumn, shops start to stock items for Christmas and gifts that people can buy for each other.
