Winter in the U.K.
Do you like Winter or Summer? Many people say that Summer is their favourite time because of the sunny days. However, Winter also has some great points. Let’s take a look!
Although the weather is not always the best at this time of year, when there is a crisp, clear day there is nothing better than wrapping up warm and going for a walk. If you are really lucky, you may even get some snow, especially in the North!
The landscape looks very different at this time of year. The trees have no leaves and most plants have no flowers. Traditional plants that people look for at this time of year are fir trees, which do not loose their leaves (or needles as they are known) and are used as Christmas trees, or holly, which is used for Christmas wreath making.
Lots of U.K. wildlife is not visible at this time of year. Some animals migrate to warmer areas and others hibernate until the Spring. However, you can still see a number of animals out on your walk, including the robin, which is often depicted on Christmas cards.
After your walk there is nothing better than finding a cafe or pub (or your house if you are lucky enough) that has a beautiful open fire, where you can warm up and enjoy a nice hot chocolate.
